Gov 2056 Political Thought of the English Revolution

This course will survey the remarkable range of political responses to the English constitutional crisis of 1640-1660, from theories of divine right to the arguments of the Levellers.  Special attention will be paid to the writings of James Harrington, Thomas Hobbes, and John Milton.
